UUID, Base64 & hash generator

Generate UUID v4s, encode and decode Base64 (text and files) and compute MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 hashes of text or files, all in your browser.

UUID v4

Base64

Hash

Everything is computed in your browser; nothing is sent. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checking files, not for storing passwords.

UUID, Base64 and hashes in one place

Quick tools for technicians and developers: a UUID v4 generator (random unique identifiers), a Base64 encoder and decoder for text and files, and an MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 hash calculator to verify that a downloaded file (for example firmware or an ISO) was not altered, by comparing it with the hash the vendor publishes.

Frequently asked questions

Are UUIDs really unique?

A UUID v4 has 122 random bits from the browser's cryptographic generator; the chance of a repeat is negligible.

Is Base64 encryption?

No. Base64 only changes how data is represented; anyone can decode it. Don't use it to hide passwords.

How do I verify firmware or an ISO?

Choose the file in the Hash section and compare its SHA-256 with the one on the vendor's download page. If they match, the file is intact.
