MAC address lookup

Find a device's manufacturer from its MAC address. Bundled OUI database, the lookup runs in your browser. Accepts several MACs at once.

The OUI data comes from the public IEEE registry (via Wireshark's “manuf” list). Modern phones use randomized MACs on Wi-Fi, so they may show as private.

What is the OUI in a MAC address?

Every network card has a 12-digit hexadecimal MAC address. The first 6 digits (sometimes 7 or 9) are the OUI, a prefix the IEEE assigns to each manufacturer. Use this lookup to identify that unknown device on your Wi-Fi, find an IP camera or DVR on the network, or check your router's DHCP client list.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find a device's MAC address?

In your router's DHCP client or “connected devices” list, with the arp -a command on Windows/Mac, or on the device's label.

Why does a MAC show as “random/private”?

Android, iPhone and Windows use randomized MAC addresses on Wi-Fi for privacy. You can spot them because the second digit is 2, 6, A or E, and they belong to no manufacturer.

Are the MACs sent to a server?

No. The database is downloaded once and the lookup runs in your browser.
