Open port checker

Check whether a port is open on your public IP from the internet: ideal to test port forwarding for cameras, DVRs, servers, MikroTik routers or games.

For safety the test runs only against your own public IP (the one our server sees), one port at a time, using a TCP connection with a 3-second timeout. If you use a VPN, the VPN's IP is tested. “Closed” can mean nothing is listening, the router is not forwarding the port, a firewall, or that your ISP uses CGNAT.

Why check for an open port?

When you set up port forwarding on your router to view a camera DVR or NVR from your phone, use remote desktop, host a server or play online, you need to know whether the port is really open from the internet. This tool tries to connect from our server to your public IP on the port you choose and tells you whether it answered.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it say closed if I opened it on the router?

The most common causes: the target device is off or not listening on that port, the rule's local IP changed, Windows Firewall blocks it, there is a double router, or your ISP uses CGNAT (your router has no real public IP). Check your IP on What is my IP and compare it with the router's WAN address.

Can I check someone else's IP?

No. For safety the test only targets the IP you are browsing from, one port at a time.

Does it test UDP?

No, it only tests TCP connections. UDP ports cannot be tested reliably this way.
